Tryptophan

Tryptophan, a naturally occurring amino acid, earns its place in calming supplements because it is a precursor of serotonin (5HT). This means it is a building-block from which serotonin can be manufactured in the brain. Serotonin, which is a neurotransmitter, acts in the brain to reduce anxiety and promotes a mood of happiness, concentration, calm and relaxation.
