Equine America UK is a traditional, family run business, founded in 1997 by Phil and Julie Middleton and now run by their son, Lee. Wishing to maintain the trusted image of the Equine America brand, whilst moving it into the 21st century, Lee brought on board world-leading equine nutritionist Deborah Lucas MSc.Eq.S., CBiol., R.Nutr. in 2018 and moved all production from the US to the UK. Deborah is now instrumental in the design and formulation of all Equine America products, from the original Cortaflex® to an extensive range of highly effective supplements and external applications for horses, dogs, cats and people.
Cortaflex® HA Regular powder is designed for the nutritional support of healthy joints in horses and ponies in light to moderate work, or older horses needing a little extra mobility support!
Lamigard Regular is a carefully formulated blend of ingredients to provide nutritional and antioxidant support for horses and ponies, and can be used both at higher levels for short term benefit, and maintenance levels for long term health.
Wear and tear on the cartilage which covers the articular surfaces of joints is one of the most common causes of reduced mobility in horses and ponies. It is often seen in older horses but can affect those in lighter work, as well those with a strenuous training and competition programme. Cartilage doesn’t have its own blood supply and it relies on the bone underneath and the synovial or joint fluid bathing the joint to supply nutrients and key compounds to maintain its health and shock-absorbing properties. As the horse ages, or the daily impact of training and competition increases, the ability of the underlying bone and synovial fluid to provide these nutrients may not be enough to maintain health, resulting in stiffness and reduced mobility. It then becomes important that the horse receives a dietary supply of these key nutrients to ensure the cartilage and joint fluid retain their elasticity and shock-absorbing properties to support joint health, comfort, and mobility.
Stabled horses are subjected to a constant respiratory challenge from fungal spores and dust in their immediate environment, which can affect their respiratory health and function.
